We simply could not do what we do without the generous participation of our volunteers!
They are vital to our mission of reducing animal shelter admissions and ending euthanasia as a form of population control in Iowa. Volunteering is the most precious gift of all.
We are always looking to add to our volunteer team! Do you have time to dedicate to our cause? All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a basic background check. If you are interested in volunteering for Iowa Humane Alliance, please contact Kathleen to sign up for one of our monthly volunteer orientations. Kathleen@iowahumanealliance.org

Orientations alternate between the first Tuesday 6 PM – 7 PM and the first Saturday 1 PM – 2 PM of the month held at IHA. Check out Current Events Calendar for the next orientation.
This is our list of current volunteer opportunities:
Spay/Neuter Clinic: Positions are available Monday through Friday starting as early as 7 AM for greeters and assistance with animal check in, to other needs within our clinic side of operation. Other opportunities may be available for helping with general cleaning and organizational tasks.
Administrative Work: Includes typing, stuffing envelopes, making copies and filing at the clinic. We are also looking for volunteers to work at home to create and edit literature and posters.
Community Liaison: Distribute literature about the IHA Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic’s services throughout a designated territory. Hang posters and deliver flyers to businesses and homes.
Fundraising: Assist in planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns and events. Assist in contacting local businesses for donations through phone call, personal visits, letter and follow ups. Help with grant writing.
Special Events: Assist in facilitating special events such as fundraisers, mega adoption events, and attendance at community festivals and fairs, etc.
Outreach: Help us reach the clients most in need of our services by placing flyers in targeted neighborhoods, tabling at locations offering assistance to families, and organizing out reach events in communities in need.
Community Cat Team: Our Community Cat Team works to further the cause of feral and stray cats in our rural and urban communities. Assist with monthly TNR training classes, offer advice and counseling to clients working with community cats. Help identify funding sources for TNR projects. Occasionally, help with mass humane trapping projects.
Landscaping and Beautification: Help us improve the look of our building and grounds. We are looking for a team of gardeners to help us add planters to the front of our building and more. We could also use help with mowing, raking leaves and general up keep of the grounds.
We are flexible when it comes to volunteers and the time they can give us. We appreciate anything you can offer and will help accommodate to what you feel comfortable with. Contact our volunteer coordinator Kathleen at Kathleen@iowahumanealliance.org or (319) 363-1225 for more information.
