Phase III – Sustainability

Two ways to give during Phase III

1.) The Iowa Humane Alliance Endowment Challenge Fund through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.

2.) Iowa Humane Alliance (IHA) Painting A Brighter Future Together Phase III Investment Fund.

Giving through option 1.

Demonstrate community-based perpetual support for IHA Painting A Brighter Future Together campaign by investing in the Iowa Humane Alliance Endowment Challenge Fund offered through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Over the next 5 years, the Community Foundation will contribute $1 for every $3 that is donated to this fund.

Our goal is to establish a $100,000 endowment fund at the Community Foundation.
$75,000 raised through private donors, sponsors and foundations.
$25,000 matched by the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.

Please note, all endowment donations must be made through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation to the Iowa Humane Alliance Endowment Challenge Fund.

The Community Foundation will:

  • Acknowledge all donations

  • Inform IHA of contributions

  • Contribute $1 for every $3 donated (maximum accumulative match of $2,500 per donor gift(s) of $7,500)

  • Provide applications for Endow Iowa Tax Credits

Endow Iowa Tax Credits: When you donate to the Iowa Humane Alliance Endowment Challenge Fund through the Community Foundation, you’ll be eligible to receive a 25% state tax credit, in addition to any federal tax benefits you may qualify for. For more information about the Endow Iowa Tax Credit, visit: https://www.gcrcf.org/donors/tax-benefits/endow-iowa-tax-credits/

Named Endowed Funds: You now have an amazing opportunity to establish a Named Endowed Designated Fund! Typically, this fund requires a minimum contribution of $10,000 but with the Community Foundation match of $2,500, your donation of $7,500 will qualify you for a Named Endowed Designated (NED) Fund!
The name of each fund is Iowa Humane Alliance (your name or family name) Fund and will allow for the Community Foundation to create an endowed fund to provide a permanent annual distribution to Iowa Humane Alliance.

Not ready to commit the full amount all at once? Alternatively, you can choose to commit to a minimum contribution of $2,500 by establishing a Prairie Fund and agree to make regular contributions over a period of five years with a goal of $10,000, at which time the Prairie Fund will convert to a Named Endowed Designated Fund.

For more information regarding Named Endowed Designated Funds, contact kathleen@iowahumanealliance.org.

Gifts we accept: There are many different types of gifts that can be accepted and applied to the Iowa Humane Alliance Endowment Challenge Fund. These gifts can be facilitated through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. For a detailed list, visit: https://www.gcrcf.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Gifts-We-Accept-Expanded-2016.pdf.

Donations to the Iowa Humane Alliance Endowment Challenge Fund will be invested through the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Pool. For more information regarding the ESG Pool, visit: https://www.gcrcf.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/FEG-ESG-Pool-Details-FINAL.pdf

Please know, all distributions from this fund will support a sustainable future for Iowa Humane Alliance.

Giving through option 2.

Signify the importance of the Iowa Humane Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic and their life-saving programs by donating directly to the IHA Painting A Brighter Future Together campaign during Phase III. This final phase focuses on sustainability, guaranteeing affordable, high-quality services will be available to all clients and animals well into the future.

Our goal is to raise $200,000.

This money will adhere to IHA’s financial policy and be:

  • Part of a diverse portfolio

  • Invested in ESG options

  • Accessible for use during an emergency

  • Support a sustainable future for IHA
